What a smartCoach can do for you

smartCoaches can guide you through critical financial issues, such as insurance and investing, to make the most of your super.
July 29, 2022

There’s no two ways about it, superannuation is complicated. That’s why smartMonday created smartCoaches, to offer guidance and resolve issues for our members. They’re trained experts in super and in understanding what our members need.

“As a member of smartMonday you can contact a smartCoach for guidance on any superannuation-related issue by phone, email or live chat, five days a week,” explains smartMonday head smartCoach Matt Davey.

“Some of our members know very little about super and some know a lot. It doesn’t matter because the purpose of a smartCoach is to give information that a member doesn’t have.”

Solving critical super issues

smartCoaches are experts in their field and can address the thorniest of superannuation issues that members like you may have.

Investing is at the heart of super, and a core expertise of our smartCoaches. Want to know how to grow your super? Then a smartCoach can help you decide the investing choices that will help.

“Whether it’s high growth or low risk that is the right option for now, or a member simply wants to understand more about what they’re invested in, our smartCoaches can simply explain what the choices are and what they mean,” says Davey.

Insurance is a common but often overlooked feature of superannuation, though it can be one of the most cost-effective ways to financially protect you and your loved ones against disablement, loss of income or death.

“We know the ins-and-out of insurance. Want to have the most effective income-protection insurance you can? That’s something a smartCoach can talk you through. Want to know the impact of insurance premiums on your super? We’ll explain what that is so you can weigh the pros and cons.”

Contributions make the most direct impact on a member’s finances, especially if they want to add more to their super than their employer’s contributions.

“Whether you want to add a little or a lot, before or after tax, there’s many rules and consequences to contributions that’s hard to keep track of. smartCoaches are on top of all the regulation and implications of contributions and will guide you through them no matter your level of knowledge,” says Davey.

Retirement is the whole point of super but often the most ignored stage in your journey. When it comes to accessing super and using it as an income many members have no plan and can feel lost.

“Retirement is a critical phase in members’ lives and can come around quicker than they think. Whether you want to transition slowly or fully jump into your life after work, our smartCoaches can talk through when and how you can access your super and work on a plan for how it will support you in the years ahead.”

Answering everyday questions

smartCoaches also answer common superannuation questions about accounts, online access and the latest super news.

For example, as you may know, financial markets have been very volatile since January 2022 and have mostly declined. In that time many members have been worried and uncertain about their superannuation.

Our smartCoaches have dealt with a multitude of calls and emails from members wanting to know why their super balance has fallen, if they should switch their investment option to prevent further decline and to know what to expect in the future.

“Volatile markets are always a period of greater activity for us, at these times we are here to offer guidance for members and answers for questions,” adds Davey.
